Thing 6; Chat

I am a dinosaur from the time BC (before computers).  I do not own a cell phone and have never had the desire to chat or IM.  I still use a VCR.  I am from the old school of face-to-face communication in reference service.  The problems I see in communicating through IM is that answers can be more complex than can be communicated in any sort of tweets or short answers.  :(

Thing 5: Wikis

Interesting examples.  I imagine that they limit only registered individuals can modify those wikis.  Our library does not use one at this time, although I could see possibilities for instruction (given the nature of internet sites to change).

Thing 4: Social networking

Considering the pros and cons of social networking, I have decided not to enroll in a network at this time.  Questions concerning privacy abound in this world.  As a tool for libraries, there are possibilities to be explored and exploited by individuals currently using these websites. (Maybe by the end of doing the 23 things, I will change my mind.)

Thing 3:RSS Feeds

Subscribed to FoxNews, Sports Illustrated, Internet Movie Database, Virginia Higher Education database, and Politico.  Spent a lot of time going back and forth between pages.  I chose these feeds from links already on my computer.

Thing 2:Getting started/Web 2.0 concepts

Congratulations to the Coeburn Blue Knights for winning the Cumberland District championship in both football and volleyball.  The only problem is that Gate City now lies next in football.

First blog

Congratulations to the Coeburn Blue Knights for winning the 2010 Cumberland District championship in both football and volleyball.  Next up: regionals against Gate City.
